Would you want to be a Vibing Queen? If yes, let me tell you what it means.

A Queen with vibes has her head filled with knowledge on how to keep her body, mind and soul healthy.

So if you want to vibe get knowledge!

On this note, we are going to pick up from where we left off, as we discuss GENITAL WARTS PART 2.

GENITAL WARTS are a common skin condition caused by a virus called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). While many people may not be aware they have the virus, it is estimated that one quarter of all sexually active people have it. Warts occur when the HPV virus infects the genital area. It is most commonly spread through sexual contact, but can also be spread through contact with an infected vaccine site.

As ladies, I really want you to understand that HPV is spread through sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. It can also be spread through skin-to-skin contact.

Most people with HPV do not have any symptoms. In some cases, people may develop warts on the genitals, anus, or throat. Warts can be raised or flat, single or multiple, small or large. They can be painful or itchy. If left untreated, warts can grow and spread.

Let's explore the risk factors of Genital warts, the complications that will arise when you don't treat it and ways to prevent it.

RISK FACTORS OF GENITAL WARTS

• The risk of developing warts is increased if a person has multiple sexual partners, or a partner who has had multiple sexual partners.

• Becoming sexually active at a young age. Having sex with a partner whose sexual history you don't know.

• Having unprotected sex or engaging in anal sex will expose you to contracting HPV.

• People with weakened immune systems are also at greater risk of contracting HPV.

• From infected mother to baby during vaginal delivery, the babies may get this warts.

COMPLICATIONS IF NOT TREATED

When Genital warts are left untreated, it can lead to serious complications. These complications may include:

Inflammation of the genital area, or even cancer, infertility due to the virus HPV.

Warts can also grow over time becoming painful or making you uncomfortable.

They may also become resistant to available treatments later on.

PREVENTION OF GENITAL WARTS

Fortunately, there are methods available to prevent infection with the HPV virus. These includes:

Always practice safe sex with your partner.

Practice Monogamy and Be faithful to your spouse.

Ensure you and your partner are treated if either of you have any infection.

If you've been exposed to any indiscriminate sex get yourself tested for STDs, and get vaccinated for HPV because you don't know the health status of those people.

Also, the HPV vaccine is highly effective in preventing genital warts if it is administered before someone becomes infected.

You can reduce your risk of contracting warts by abstaining from sexual contact.

Though genital warts are common and can be both bothersome and unpleasant, there is hope for you if you get the right management therapy.

IN CONCLUSION

People can take measures to protect themselves and reduce their risk of developing warts, practicing safe sex, and receiving the HPV vaccine.  While the risk of complications from untreated warts is real, it is much easier to prevent than to treat them.

If you think you may have been exposed to HPV, talk to your health professional and work together to create a plan that works for you.
